The event was hosted by Baroness Winterton of Doncaster, and around 100 guests from numerous different companies and organisations were thought to be in attendance.
The company was founded back in 2014 and has trained 28,000 professionals who are now working with young people across the UK, making significant impacts on education throughout the gambling industry.
Baroness Winterton shared a personal story behind Ygam’s creation as she explained, “What started as a heartfelt mission has now become a nationally recognised organisation, making a tangible impact on the lives of young people across the UK.”
“I’m proud to say that Ygam has grown into a respected organisation, across all Parties in Parliament, for its vital work in communities and constituencies throughout the UK.”
“Ygam is now a valued voice and thought leader in this policy area, education and safeguarding, and I’m confident the Government will be eager to continue engaging with its important work.”
The CEO of GambleAware, Zoe Osmand, also spoke at the event and discussed the importance of training and education across the UK.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing several members of their team, and I can personally attest to the passion they bring to their work. This passion, combined with their expertise and dedication, makes Ygam’s team—many of whom are former teachers—a truly invaluable asset to our sector.”
Ygam offers a number of free online resources for people who are interested in learning more about gambling and the industry, as well as safety and responsible gambling. It is also possible for organisations, including universities, to book a training session from the charity.
As part of Ygam’s 10th anniversary, they are providing people with a chance to support them via the 10for10 challenge—this fundraising campaign sees Ygam take part in ten formidable challenges throughout the year to try and raise money and support for the charity.
