Gator Gold
Gator Gold is a safari-themed new slot game by Swedish game developer Yggdrasil Gaming. Built across six reels, this new game offers you a huge 4,096 ways to win.
The third game in the Gigablox series, Gator Gold borrows inspiration from Games Global’s classic slot game Mega Moolah. Similarly, both games bring you an African safari theme. Unfortunately, both look very dated. Yggdrasil is usually renowned for embellished and polished slot games with superb graphics, therefore they surprised us with this new lacklustre game.
However, unlike Mega Moolah, this game comes with a considerable amount of features, including dynamic reels, wild multipliers, a free spins bonus round and the chance to snap up big wins. The problem is, all of these are available during the free spins bonus round only. To be fair, Mega Moolah does come with massive jackpots and also free spins rounds, but you get our drift.
This clean-cut yet classic-looking slot game greets you with views of mountains, rivers and acacia trees. The lowest paying symbols are the standard card numbers while the highest paying ones include the meerkats, gators, zebras, meerkats, cheetahs and wildebeests. The gator, as you would have presumed, is the most generous out of all symbols. He pays out for two of a kind, while the rest of the symbols require at least three matches for a win.
There are also the massive Gigablox symbols that could also boost your wins.
Gator Gold does have the potential to award you with a maximum win of 20,000x your bet, but this is a highly volatile game so you might have to wait around for those big payouts.
The RTP is an average 96%.

Gator Gold free spins
The free spins round can be triggered by landing no less than 5 or more free spins scatter symbols anywhere on the reels.
You will be awarded a number of free spins depending on the number of scatters that triggered the event. So, if you land 8 free spins scatter symbols, then you will be awarded 8 free spins.
Similar to the base game, the Gigablox are also available during the bonus round. You are guaranteed to hit at least once during the round. Along with the Gigablox, you will also be joined by multipliers wilds.
The multiplier wilds here play a vital role as landing at least one can double your winning combinations.
You can also trigger additional free spins by landing free spins scatters during the round.
Gator Gold bonus features
Gator Gold only has one bonus feature, namely the free spins bonus round which comes with wild multipliers and Gigablox symbols.
Gator Gold RTP
The Gator Gold RTP is an average 96%. This is also a highly volatile game, so you can’t expect to hit wins too often. The free spins round is the best place to maximise your winnings, thanks to the wild multipliers and additional free spins scatters.
Verdict
Gator Gold is an okay game, though you must really like the mechanics of a highly volatile game and the Gigablox to enjoy it to its full potential. The game lacks features, so trying to keep players’ attention is going to be challenging. With the exception of the free spins bonus round, there is very little going on here.
It is only thanks to the somewhat surprising nature of the Gigablox that you might stay interested during the base game. And, since there are no frequent wins, you also have to hope that the free spins bonus round comes soon enough, as the bankroll gets depleted very fast.
We must admit we were a tad disappointed with Yggdrasil Gaming’s latest offering. Both in terms of the graphics and the lack of pizazz that we have grown accustomed to when playing Yggdrasil games.
Once we hit the free spins round, the wild multipliers helped us recover our losses and added some massive wins. However, once that round is over, the game goes back to being as unengaging as ever.
If you love games such as Raging Rhino and Mega Moolah, Gator Gold might just be up your alley, but if you don’t like the lack of features, perhaps stick to the other two.
